The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommends reopening North Kingstown Town Beach for swimming because bacteria counts have returned to safe levels, according to a news release. There are no beaches closed as of Sunday afternoon.

RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality regularly to ensure safe swimming throughout the summer. The status of a beach may change as new data become available. The most up-to-date beach information is available through a recorded message on RIDOH's beaches telephone line (401) 222-2751.

The release also reminds beach-goers to follow the coronavirus guidelines and maintain social distancing and wear a face covering in bathrooms, concessions areas, or parking lots during busy times.

However, face coverings are not required when you are at least six feet from others. Face coverings should not be worn while swimming or playing in the water.
