‘The X-Files’: David Duchovny Asked to Wear That Famous Red Speedo in Season 2

Gambar
The X-Files, which originally aired on FOX, starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents on paranormal cases. The science-fiction TV show was popular for it's running storyline about UFOs and conspiracies. However, one of the biggest draws to the show was Anderson and Duchovny's impeccable chemistry, playing Agents Scully and Mulder. It didn't hurt that the two actors were (and are) ridiculously good-looking — which is why one episode from The X-Files Season 2, stands out in the memories of many fans. In "Duane Barry," Duchovny wore a red swimsuit that became iconic. He later revealed he actually requested to wear it. Gambar
City pools will reopen next Friday for lap swimming only, with new physical distancing guidelines and procedures in place, according to the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation. All pools are expected to reopen with regular schedules, except for three that are currently closed for maintenance at Waialua, Waipahu and Pearl City district parks. The city said schedules are largely determined by available staff, including pool lifeguards. "While our healthcare officials have determined that pools are relatively safe concerning the spread of COVID-19, we still want to be cautious and keep public health as our top priority," said DPR Director Michele Nekota in a news release. "The procedures for pool usage are modeled after how we regulate other high demand facilities, such as tennis courts, so we appreciate pool users as they adapt to these new procedures." The new guidelines include the following: >> Only lap swimming w...

Some Richmond-area swimming pools open for lap swimming; public swimming still on hold

Gambar
Swimming pools are a mainstay of summer, especially here in Virginia when the temperatures soar and people seek the water to cool off, exercise and socialize. But with restrictions on businesses still in place due to the coronavirus, many people are wondering: will pools be able to open this summer? "It's what we do every summer. We live at the pool. We cook out here. We're at the pool all day," Courtney Gibson, facilities director of the Lewis Ginter Recreation Association Ginter Park pool, said.  But considering the risks involved with the coronavirus this summer, she doesn't know if she'll allow her kids, age 10 and 13, to go to the pool. "It's extremely complicated," she said. "I worry." Under Gov. Ralph Northam's restrictions, outdoor pools in the counties and elsewhere in the state have been able to open for lap swimming under Phase One. The water in swimming pools cannot spread th...

No Swimming Yet At Evanston Beaches In Restore Illinois Phase 3

Gambar
EVANSTON, IL — Swimming will remain closed at beaches in Evanston after the state moves into Phase 3 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Restore Illinois reopening plan, city staff announced. Evanston's beaches are tentatively expected to reopen for public swimming in July. No beach tokens will be sold until final reopening plans are determined. Lawrence Hemingway, director of parks, recreation and community services, said no daily passes will be offered for sale at any of the city's beaches other than the Dempster Street and Clark Street offices. "For those who do not have season passes, we will not be selling passes or entry for single days at the beaches. We're trying to eliminate that hand-to-hand contact as much as possible," Hemingway said. "We have protection screens in place at Dempster as well as Clark Street, so that's the only place where daily passes will be sold." The city expects to begin selling beach tokens online on June 8, Hemingway said...

County's public health director, say if done right, the risk of contracting COVID-19 in an outdoor pool is low. "Swimming in a pool is definitely safe," said L.A. County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer. "We have had evidence from CDC that being in a pool is a safe activity." Other health experts agreed with Ferrer, saying swimming is a safe activity. "Pools are actually very safe. The chlorine in pools is going to deactivate the virus and saltwater and oceans are not good environments for the virus to grow," said Dr. Michael Hochman, the director of USC's Gher Family Center Hochman said even in a pool, you should maintain some distance, but as a parent, he said he also recognizes ...

Swimming lessons still offered during pandemic

Gambar
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Swimming pools in Sioux Falls may be closed for the summer, but that isn't putting swimming lessons on hold at a local swim school. While Sioux Falls public pools may not be an option for kids this summer, owner of Safesplash Swim School, Dan Sobocinski says swimming lessons shouldn't be postponed. "We absolutely feel it's critical that parents are continuing to move forward with swimming lessons. Because the pools and beaches are closed, does not mean that kids are not going to still find their way to water," Sobocinski said. The facility did close their doors back in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, but has since opened their doors to swimmers while taking the necessary safety precautions against COVID-19. "We have very strict social distancing guidelines that are being followed in our lobby, in our pool area and even in our pool. We have v...

How to safely go hiking or swimming at the beach during the coronavirus pandemic according to a doctor

Gambar
The fact that some states are reopening does not mean that the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Dr. Claudia Finkelstein explains that the decision to go hiking or swimming in a public place isn't one that should be taken lightly. If you do choose to go out, Finkelstein advises to maintain a safe distance between yourself and others, and to still wear a mask, even at the beach. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Even if we escaped getting sick from the coronavirus, we are all sick of staying at home, practicing social distancing, and wearing masks. While case numbers and deaths from COVID-19 are trending downward, this is not the time to let down your guard. These are not ordinary days. Houston’s public swimming pools will not open for Memorial Day Weekend

Gambar
The city will not open its pools for Memorial Day Weekend, Mayor Sylvester Turner announced Thursday. The city ordinarily uses the unofficial beginning of summer to open its 38 swimming pools and 27 "splash pads," but Turner said they would remain closed until further notice amid concerns about the coronavirus. "I know that this decision will disappoint some families, but it is the responsible thing for the city to do," Turner said. "It is impossible to enforce social distancing in public pools, and impossible to protect children and others from the viral spread." Turner and Parks Director Steve Wright urged residents not overcrowd parks during the holiday weekend. Park monitors...

Swimming during the pandemic: What the CDC wants you to know before you hit the pool

Dutch Olympic swimmer Sharon van Rouwendaal wasn't able to practice outside or at her gym because of her city's lockdown. Prepare to put a face mask in your tote bag, although you won't need to wear it in the water. On Wednesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published new guidelines for operating swimming pools during the coronavirus pandemic. The documentation arrives just a few days before Memorial Day weekend, when many outdoor pools typically open for the summer season. How to Safely Go Swimming (While Social Distancing) This Summer

Gambar
From House Beautiful Summer is coming! You might not be throwing any big parties any time soon, seeing as social distancing measures are here to stay for a while. But that doesn't mean you have to avoid all of your favorite summertime activities—like swimming, for instance. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), "There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas." On top of that, chlorine and bromine, two chemicals typically added to recreational bodies of water as disinfectants, will help inactivate the virus. Before you go rushing off to the nearest pool, consider the bigger picture. "The problem with swimming is not so much about getting the virus from the water, it's about getting it from other people who are sharing that water space with you," says Dr. Thomas Russo, chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University at Buffalo's Ja...

Gambar
I really love swimsuits. I mean, it's kind of abnormal how much I love them, especially considering I now live in New York and rarely get to wear them. I am originally from Orange County, so up until I made the major move across the country, summers looked like waking up, putting on a bikini and a big T-shirt, and heading to the beach every single day.
